Catherine Hernandez is vice president and interim national communications leader for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals.In this role, Hernandez leads National Communications and is responsible for internal and external communications, labor communications, social and digital channels, reputation management and executive communications.Hernandez reports to Kaiser Permanente’s chief administrative officer and is a member of the National Executive Team.Hernandez joined Kaiser Permanente in 2003 to lead the communications team supporting the launch of the organization’s electronic health record program.Most recently, Hernandez served as vice president, National Communications. In this role, Hernandez led the communications strategy for mental health and wellness, medical excellence, community health, affordability, and Kaiser Permanente’s overall strategic plan. She also provided communications leadership for the launch of Kaiser Permanente Washington and the organization’s affiliation with Maui Health System.Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Hernandez served in marketing and communications at Macy’s, Internet Pictures Corporation (iPIX), and Vanstar.Hernandez holds a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
