Herb has provided engineering support for enterprise architectures in commercial and government markets for more than 20 years. Becoming IBM’s Deputy CTO for cyber security in 2008, he advised the Executive and Legislative branches of the U.S. government on security matters, developed a secure cloud computing environment for the Air Force Cyber Command and helped shape the security approach for the IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative. Prior to 2001, Herb was engaged widely in multiple commercial industries such as banking, automotive and information technology. After 9/11, as an IBM executive consultant, he worked on DoD and Intelligence Community infrastructure transformations; notably, serving two years as Chief Architect for a DoD agency’s Lead System Integrator, overseeing the budget, design and engineering execution of over 40 programs of record.
