Jack Cheng is known as a pioneer in the automotive industry, his vision is to empower a joyful future and mobilize the world through affordable autonomous electric cars.

With China as the world’s largest EV market, both NIO and XPT are uniquely positioned to be the first advanced technology provider offering global quality and technology with a local presence. XPT is the provider of advanced technology components and solutions which are the “brain, heart, and soul” of NIO vehicles.

In September 2018, Jack and the NIO leadership team took the NIO public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: NIO). This public offering squarely positions XPT and NIO to be the number one provider of electric autonomous vehicles in the world.

Jack’s success can be attributed to his ability to develop international business and government relationships, while his instincts allow him to see what’s next in automotive and technology; and blaze the trail to get there. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Taiwan National Cheng Kung University, Jack has been able to leverage this in his XPT and NIO ventures.

Early in Jack’s career, he knew that learning the auto business from the ground up would serve him well. His leadership roles at China Country Manager at Magneti Marelli and later as Chairman of Fiat Automobiles, Co. Ltd. were important to building relationships and learning the business. His ability to see the “big picture” came at Ford in 1981 where he started in components design engineering and later moved to product planning and product development. With the Ford and Mazda partnership, Jack was instrumental in the orchestration and export of a Taiwan built Tracer (Mazda3) to Canada in 1986.

As you can imagine, this journey has provided many experiences which he shares in his book, Jack: Just the Way You Are.

He believes that the next phase of the mobility and electric vehicle industry —will be the greatest opportunity yet.
