During his 30 years of legal experience, John was involved in a variety of industry sectors, with a focus on Energy. After 25 years as a private practitioner, in Houston, he co-founded and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Standard Renewable Energy Group, LLC (SREG). SREG is a private equity firm, based in Houston, Texas, engaged in the clean technology and renewable energy industries. John also serves as the Managing Director of The Wind Alliance, a public, private, University consortium formed to advance the renewable wind energy industry in the United States.In 2003, John was appointed by Governor Perry to serve on the Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System and served from 2003 until 2009. He was elected Chairman from 2005-2007 and served as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Regents from 2007-2009. John is a Board member of the Houston Technology Center, The Greater Houston Partnership, the Association for Community Broadcasting and Chairman of the Board of the Ed Rachal Foundation. In addition to his business commitments and his state and local community service, John is a fifth generation Texas rancher.John received a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
