Martha Demski has over 30 years of experience in the fields of finance and biotechnology. Most recently, Demski served as the Interim Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC). Martha previously served for over 15 years as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Vical Incorporated where she was responsible for multiple private and public financings including an IPO.

Martha has served as a member of Neothetics board of directors and Chairperson of the audit committee since July 2014.

Since August 2011, Martha has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ajinomoto Althea, Inc. (formerly Althea Technologies, Inc.), a fully-integrated contract development and manufacturing organization.

From July 2008 to December 2010, Martha served as the Interim Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, or SKCC, a non-profit corporation engaged in biomedical research, which voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009.

From April 2006 to May 2008, Martha served as Senior Vice President of U.S. Trust.

From 2005 to July 2008, Martha served on the Board of Trustees at SKCC, as well as Chairperson of its audit committee and Chairperson of its governance and nominating committee.

From December 1988 to June 2004, Martha served as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Vical Incorporated, a biopharmaceutical company.

Martha also serves on the board of directors of Adamas Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Chimerix, Inc., where she serves as Chairperson of its audit committee.

Martha earned a B.A. in Education from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
