Steve Walker is the Asia Pacific CIO and Global Warehouse Management System Centre of Excellence of DHL Supply Chain. In DHL Supply Chain, IT is integral in delivering world-class supply chain solutions and is a key player in customer engagement and growth. As the CIO of Asia Pacific, the fastest growing region of DHL Supply Chain globally, Steve leads a team of over 380 associates across 20 countries to drive innovation, quality and value for customers and the business. In his role leading the strategic direction and service for the Warehouse Management Systems Centre of Excellence, Steve is responsible for supporting over 2000 warehouses globally. Steve has over 30 years of experience in the global supply chain sector. He joined contract logistics provider Exel in 1999, in a global systems strategy role and went on to hold a number of senior IT roles across the business. When Deutsche Post DHL acquired Excel in 2005, Steve was appointed Supply Chain Solutions Director, EMEA for DHL Supply Chain. After two years, he was promoted to Vice President, Global Logistics Solutions, responsible for driving strategic solutions globally. In 2012, Steve moved to Singapore and took up the role of CIO for Asia Pacific. Today, Steve is regularly featured as an expert on supply chain innovation and technology in the media, such as The Business Times Singapore and APAC CIO Outlook magazine. As a highly engaging speaker, Steve is a much sought-after keynote presenter at many regional and global events, sharing best practice and trends on the future of supply chain. Steve holds a Master of Science degree in Logistics and Transportation from Cranfield University, UK and a Diploma of Management Studies. Driven by his passion to share his knowledge and give back, Steve became an external examiner and regular lecturer on global supply chain outsourcing at Cranfield University from 2000 to 2012. Steve also co-authored ‘International Logistics and Supply Chain Outsourcing: From Local to Global’, a supply chain book published in 2007.Steve is a member of the CIO Connect Advisory Board and the Charted Institute of Logistics and Transportation. He also serves on the Main Committee of the British Club, Singapore.Steve is a lifelong and passionate Manchester United football fan and looks to former Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson for leadership inspiration in how he managed his teams. Steve is married to Mary with one son and a grandson.
