Today Tom Sella is a VP of Product at WeWork.

Boxee’s inception was a shared Eureka! moment between Tom Sella and Avner Ronen - while they were using XBMC’s open-source software, they envisioned the potential to dramatically change their home media consumption experience.

In Boxee’s infancy, Sella jumpstarted the Israeli R&D operation, architecting, coding and deploying the first Boxee software product. As Boxee evolved, Sella was instrumental in Boxee's foray into the world of Consumer Electronics, and was behind some of the Boxee Box’s most notable ID innovations including the RF remote control and dual-sided QWERTY keyboard design.

Later, Sella worked closely with Boxee’s manufacturing and hardware partners, bridging the gap between the amazing Boxee software engineering team and the challenges of managing a hardware device.

Prior to Boxee, Sella served various operations and systems engineering roles with infrastructure start-ups. Sella was also active in the Wordpress community as an advisor and source code contributor, and started a multi-user Hebrew blogging platform. Before beginning his professional career, Sella served in the elite IDF intelligence unit, 8200.
