Trevor joined BT as a graduate in 2002 and started his career in DSL engineering. Since that time, he has worked on almost every major increase in broadband speed and coverage ranging from extending ADSL to over 99% coverage, launching up to 8Mbps ADSL and then 24Mbps ADSL2+ services and the doubling of FTTC speeds from 40Mbps to 80Mbps.

Today, Trevor is the head of access technology research at BT and leads the team responsible for Openreach’s breakthrough use of G.fast to pass 10 million homes with Ultrafast broadband by the end of 2020.

In additional to driving up the performance of ultrafast broadband, Trevor and his team is also looking at the future of superfast and maximising the coverage of FTTC via the use of “Long Reach VDSL”. Trevor has already filed more than 20 European patents related to DSL and Dynamic Line Management.

Trevor is a Chartered Engineer and holds Masters degrees in Experimental Physics and Telecommunication Engineering. He is also active in industry bodies such as the NICC (http://www.niccstandards.org.uk/), where he represents BT, and is a vice chair of the Technical Steering Group.
