Yves Laurent Soumelong is a Payment Systems expert and a passionate advocate of Digital Transformation. He Currently works in the capacity as the Information System Manager - Projects specializing in the Mobile Financial Services stream for MTN Cameroon.

Yves is an actor of Financial Inclusion in central Africa, he believes that mobile financial services can transform, a given African from an “unbanked” person to an economic engine with a transaction history and credit score and drive them from cash to digital journey.

Through his daily job he has worked on various projects with Banks, Government, International Organization like World Bank, World Food Program and United Nations High Commission for Refugees. Two projects of note are the provision of Financial services access to the wider population on mobile phones as well as the provision of enablement for payment of food products via mobile finance.

Yves holds both a Bachelor and master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from National Advanced School of Polytechnic in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is a Young African Leadership Initiate (YALI) Fellow from the Regional Leadership Center of Accra, Ghana. He likes to bungee jump, swimming as well as travelling around the world.
