Citing four sources familiar with the matter, computer network company Sandvine has abandoned plans to sell its encrypted messaging tracking tool in the United States and has laid off most of the employees involved in the project. The technology could track encrypted information and sources said Sandvine had already offered a trial version of the tool in the US. However, broader economic difficulties and ongoing concerns about the company's previous cooperation with authoritarian governments have hindered the success of the product.
